    Chapter 3-Pg. 26
Again, and again- Bruno says he doesn’t like it here at Out-with over and over.
This again and again is just general background because he keeps saying that he misses his friends and how he wants to go back to Berlin and never see Out-with again. It also tells the reader how much Bruno wants to go home.
    Chapter 3- Pg. 22
Memory moment- Bruno remembers when Gretel’s friends always bullied him.
This memory moment makes the reader think about how Gretel’s friends bullied Bruno and picked on him. It also tells the reader how Gretel never stood up for

    Chapter 5 - pg. 47
Words of the wiser- Bruno’s father was talking to Bruno because Bruno wanted to go back home back to berlin, but his father said, “Home is where one’s family is.”
It develops information that can develop the theme of the novel later because if Bruno got his way, he would never met Shmuel and he would have never gone in the camp and get sent to the gas chambers.
    Chapter 8 – pg. 90
Tough questions- Bruno’s grandmother asked her son, “Why did it lead up to this dressing up like a puppet on a string.”
It makes the reader think the Commandant’s mother hates that all the shows she made him do when he was a kid led up to him being a puppet on a string and hitler is the one controlling him.
